AI-Assisted Search & Document-Parsing Workflow

The business problem
Finding the right product or document relied on manual lookups and rigid keyword search, making retrieval slow and often inaccurate when the exact wording didn't match.
The solution
I built a document-parsing workflow with AI-assisted product retrieval integrated directly into the backend, so results are surfaced from the underlying content itself rather than requiring an exact keyword match.
My role
I led the 4-person backend team responsible for this system end-to-end — architecture, implementation, and rollout — within an 11-person cross-functional org.
Technical challenges
Integrating AI-assisted retrieval into an existing backend meant keeping response times acceptable for an interactive search experience, and handling the parsing workflow reliably across varied document formats.
Results
Users got a faster, more accurate way to find what they needed without relying on exact keyword matches. This workflow sits on the same backend as the real-time WebSocket case study → for the same platform.
